Thank you for this post and for including the referenced posts. I find it reads much better with the context inline.

Lately I wonder about this kind of thing and how much media has narrowed the focus of people on things that aren’t representative.

Even if there are 100,000 people in the valley who have lucked out into generational wealth. That’s a small fraction of the people in the world. And most people recognise that they need crazy luck to have a chance at that kind of wealth.

But we have some weird narrative contraction where we spend so much time talking about this small group of people who are either extremely lucky and/or obsessed with being incredibly wealthy. Yet those are the least relevant people to the reality of everyone in the world.

I’d be happier if we could just ignore them all and get back to doing our own stuff.
